Mathia: The main limitation that I know of is manpower resource — it’s INCREDIBLY difficult to get male volunteers….
-> This is one of the reasons why I prefer an economically sustainable non-public-charity solution.

If certain assumptions are made, the figures do tell a lot… Even if assuming homosexuals make up 10% of the population, it will take about 10 hetero cases for every 1 homo case just to make the rate even. If homosexuals make up even less % of the population, then the rate computed is quite alarming.

I think even if you have people from various schools of thought attending the forum, it's not going to be constructive.

I believe this is a inter-generation cyclical problem. Let me elaborate with a conservative starting point – In reality it can begin in any part of the cycle.
-> Conservative parents (1st Gen) drum into their kids (2nd Gen) to be conservative and practice abstinence.
-> 2nd Gen feels 1st Gen very restrictive and decides to keep secrets and explore themselves. 2nd Gen may or may not suffer any consequences of their actions.
-> 2nd Gen-A suffered and regretted. When 2nd Gen-A have kids, what would they think? Would they think that 1st Gen did the right thing? If so, their style of parenting would be more like 1st Gen. Or they may try to adopt some hybrid method of parenting like 2nd Gen-B.
-> 2nd Gen-B turned out alright. When 2nd Gen-B have kids, what would they think? Would they have double-standards and adopt 1st Gen method to protect their kids? Or would they adopt some kind of hybrid method of parenting?

And what are the consequences of different methods of parenting? Frankly, it is all experimental, and it gets repeated again and again.

Children (including grown-up singles) will often think “Why cannot try? Why cannot do this?”
While parents (whether conservative or liberal) will always think about protecting their children.
    It's a neverending cycle.
Also bear in mind that your own parents could have gone through their share of traumatic experiences. Not telling you doesn't mean it never happened.

I do know of married couples who decide not to have kids in consideration of a whole bunch of such issues. I suppose that is one way to break the cycle.

The price mostly depends on if the recipe is available from a vendor or if it's a random mob drop, as the elixir itself has limited benefits and certainly isn't a "must carry" item. I'd price it at a few gold and see if it sells. If it doesn't, I'd find a guildmate who could use it.

I’m not arguing that you shouldn’t prosecute terrorists. I personally oppose torture, and believe that, at most, sodium pentathol should be used, but that wasn’t my argument. My argument is that not all Muslims are terrorists, and due to the modern philosophy of “innocent until proven guilty,” combined with the International Declaration of Human Right, you cannot say that anyone is anything based on race, creed, or religion [or sexual orientation].

  10. Spanky M says:

What do you mean by x"? In calculus, this refers to derivatives, but that makes little sense in a domain-range problem. I think you mean squared, and I think you meant 4x^2-9y^2=36.

For a normal problem with domain and range, you first start by finding the x-values where the statement is defined — this is the domain. For example, if you have y=sqrt(x), then y is only defined for x greater than or equal to 0.

Once you have determined the possible x values (the domain), you try to see what values of y you can get with these values of x. For example, y=sqrt(x) is only ever going to be positive, so the range (like the domain in this case) is from 0 to infinity.

Another easy way to see domains and ranges is to graph the function, and see all of the x values (domain) and y values (range) the function hits.

For your first example, if my assumptions are correct, it's the graph of a hyperbola. The second is a graph of a parabola that opens to the left. Graphing these would be very helpful.

    Hope this helps!

I vaguely knew about Presets and took some time today to see what that would mean for me with PSE 8. Visited Coffeeshop (picked up 11 freebies and donated $10) and PresetPond (a lot less interesting for PSE).

PSE is a lot more limited AFAICT that CS3 Photoshop. You can drop .atn files into …/PhotoshopElements/8.0/locale/en_us/Workflow Panels/actions. Then in the Guided Fix (rather than Full or Quick) get a drop down with the name of the .atn file. Select it and it gets applied to the image.

From reading what Coffeeshop had to say and all the other files I had to leave sitting all alone from the download, I'd say I'm missing all but the action themselves.

Tried a couple of them out and they are indeed interesting effects but I'd guess a lot less interactive that with CS3.

I should probably learn now how to make my own actions b/c it seems that a lot of photos taken at the same time of day, same lighting (nature stuff) often need to be brightened up if they're in the shade or enriched if it's all bright and blown-out sunny.

I usually take 100-400 shots/day, so you're right about having a whole slew of shots and needing to do SOMETHING with them. Careful editing, sad to say, is what gets dropped in my case often enough.

It's also why I just bot a 750GB primary HD for my laptop.
    -Cheers, Terry

I believe the greatest goal our church could reach for is to find that common ground you mentioned. I highly doubt we will all ever agree on every issue. Maybe one day in heaven we will know who was right and who was wrong about these issues, but for now we can only turn to the ultimate source, God's word, and use all of the intelligence, “common sense,” and convictions which God has given us as we make our own decisions.

Perhaps the greatest struggle is to realize that God's true vision for the church may be a culmination of Karl's vision, Sonya's vision, my vision, Chuck's vision, Bea Brown's vision…..Then again, maybe God's vision is on a whole new level which none of us have seen. I know that God is pleased as long as we are selflessly striving to find His vision.

    Dear CAPitalZ,

I agree that it is not a good idea to give only 1 channel excusive rights for national event like Marvira Naal etc.

But let me tell you. I live here in Europe, and I subscribe to TTN Tamil TV. There are many Tamil channels in Europe (Deepam TV, Sun TV, KTV, Cee(I)TV, DAN TRT Tamil Ozhi – and last year there were even more Tamil TV-channels.

The competition is very big. For example Cee(I)TV and DAN TRT Tamil Ozhi are telecasting free-to-air, and Sun TV offers 2 channels on 1 subcription.
So TTN need this “exclusice rights”, so the channel can get more viewers and survive in the media market. But the LTTE is not unfair, because Marvira Naal is telecasted for free on TTN every year.
The other Tamil channels don't have the rights for live video telecasting of the speech, but they are allowed to telecast the audioformat of the speech live. For example DAN TRT Tamil Ozhi last year telecasted the speech live on TV, but they had only a picture of our national leader from the previous Mavira Naal on the screen. TamilOne TV could have done the same.

TTN and TVI are using a lot of money to get these live feeds from the satellite, so it is absolutely unfair if others steal the live telecasting feed.

The owners of the other TV station can do the same as DAN TRT Tamil Ozhi did. Just put on the audio feed of the live speech. Problem is solved.

It is not easy to run a TV station… it costs a lot, and to survive in the media, you have to have something special to offer your subscribers :-)

By the way – how did ATN Tamil Channel handle Marvira Naal?

    Kindly regards
    Suriyan

I have come to bring Americans my vision for hope and to bring change! Change without hope is filled with uncertainty. Change with hope is filled with uncertainty but very hopeful for change in vision. Uncertainty filled with change is hopeful while hope with uncertainty is lack of vision. Vision along with hope is also uncertain, but quite hopeful indeed. Where there's a lack of vision, the people perish for there is no hope for change. One thing that is certain is change, but hope is vision for change in a hopeful world. And that's what I want to do for America. I am uncertain but hopeful that I have conveyed my vision for change clearly.

I had the same problem a whole lot of years ago. I wanted to sing it in church, but I could only find it in E-flat. The organist tried to transpose it, and we pulled it off, but it didn't turn out very good.

If you can't find an arrangement in A-flat or B-flat, you'll be stuck with having to transpose sheet music, which I know that you don't want to do. Maybe you can find someone near you who can help you with a change here and there to produce a solid arrangement.

You have one thing on me, already. Back then, I was scrambling around the night before. You are wise in beginning your project with ample time before Christmas. I wish you the best!

It doesn't work quite as well when you force it into a Triple Legend deck – it really does kind of miss things like Children of the Atom. Still, if you get Professor X hidden fast enough, it can be a ridiculous deck to try and punch a hole through. If you have Underground Resistance, I think that would be a much better team-up than T&J, especially since that's your ticket to moving Prof X hidden, and you don't have too many team-stamped effects anyway.

The West has NOTHING to do with the Wizards playoff chances. The winner of RSL-CO (or RSL in case of a draw) will take 3rd automatic spot in the West, the other will be eliminated (RSL because they lose the tie breakers to KC and NY, CO because they won't have enough points). Gen Y'ers still face such problems but I sometimes feel like Gen Xers think we have a permanent silver spoon in our mouths.

    ATN -

I'm curious, how can the creation account (or Bible, for that matter) be taken as true – but not literal… the Bible isn't just a story book or a text book… it claims to be much more. It is either a deceptive lie, a far-fetched lunacy, or it is what it claims to be… TRUTH.

By the way, I do know a little about where you stand (I've read your blog) and therefore, I can say that you, Collins, and Miller are liberal (after all, it's a fairly relative term considering a person's self-awareness and understand of the issues on 'either side' of himself). But frankly, I've read authors like them – just tired of hearing the same old reasons why a 'new' science is better than (needs to be fit into) the 'old' doctrine.

I continue to stand on an unchanging authority – one not based on the 'newest' technological & scientific breakthrough (which often changes, morphs, even contradicts itself given time)…
my rock is just that – a solid foundation.

Give it a shot, it's awesome!

  70. First of all, anti-immigration proponents like yourself are already heard, in fact i would suggest they are one of the more vocal parts of the population. The tabloid newspapers are filled with them, the BNP support this position and indeed this QnA forum has many questions from people who agree with your opinion, right or wrong.

Asylum seekers get 70% of the benefit available to a UK citizen, they don't get huge benefits, that is a MYTH. Asylum seekers are refugees who do not have their status confirmed, they are not allowed to work (unless they have been here over a year and the Home Office still has not approved their case or deported them), the money they get comes from central government not local sources so it doesn't effect the local economies, and they made up (in 2003) 0.5% of benefits claimants, thats about 80,000 out of 15million.. Even if that has gone up by 500% since then its still a tiny amount compared to the lazy UK citizens who make claims (figures do not include pensioners).

Illegal immigrants are a different matter, do not confuse asylum seekers with illegal immigrants they are not the same. Illegal immigrants cannot claim any benefits without committing fraud, they are the same as UK citizens who claim benefits and work, they are criminals.

Being anti-immigration without actually thinking about it is the first step to ultra-nationalism. Immigrants are important to the UK as they bring new ideas, culture, money, connections for business export, labour for jobs which are difficult to fill with UK citizens (farm, slaughter, dirty, unskilled etc) and with our rising aging population, slipping birthrate and economy teetering on the edge (with regards to lending) we need the constant renewal of immigrants to ensure a healthy future for the country.

Now I agree there need to be limits, however just saying “i am atn-immigration” is like saying ” I am anti-cars because people die in accidents”, we still need cars we just need to make them and the roads safer through better control.

Actually, Bruce wrote almost the entire song and then sent it to her so that she could write the end. At that time, she had a long distance relationship with one of the members in the E Street Band. She felt that the song fit perfect to her voice and the lyrics appealed to her.

  72. charnyk says:

I've done this once before, moving an entire storage building about three miles from one farm to another. The size was comparable to your garage.
First, unbolt all the sill plates from the foundation. Second, you have to brace the hell out of the structure from the inside to keep the building from racking when you lift it. You'll need to brace from top plates down to opposite bottom plates, the more, the better. And nail something across the bottom of the garage door to keep it from spreading open.
How you lift the building is up to you. We had a Bobcat, so thats what we used, but I imagine you can use a heavy-duty hydraulic jack. Starting from a corner, we lifted the building 2" at a time, inserting 2×4 blocks as we went, about every 6 feet. We kept going around the building like this, adding blocks, until it was high enough to run beams underneath it to jack up and get a trailer under the beams to move. You need only lift and block the building high enough to get your 4" blocks underneath. Lower the building onto your block, then fill in the gaps where the 2×4 blocking was.
